# Rate limits

> 40 requests per hour per key, 2 seconds between calls, and the headers that tell you where you stand.

Each API key has two limits:

| Limit | Default | When you hit it |
| - | - | - |
| Hourly | **40 requests** in the last hour | `429` with `Retry-After` (seconds) and `reset_time` |
| Spacing | **2 seconds** between calls | `429` with `Retry-After: 2` |

Every endpoint counts toward the same budget, including the content, stores,
Shopify, Meta ads and payouts endpoints.

## Headers

Successful responses tell you where you stand:

| Header | Meaning |
| - | - |
| `X-RateLimit-Limit` | Your hourly limit |
| `X-RateLimit-Remaining` | Requests left |
| `X-RateLimit-Reset` | When the count resets, as a Unix timestamp |

A `429` adds `Retry-After`, in seconds:

```json theme={"dark"}
{
  "error": "Hourly rate limit of 40 requests exceeded.",
  "retry_after": 1260,
  "reset_time": "2026-11-04T15:00:00Z"
}
```

## Exceptions

* `POST /campaign_applications` skips the 2-second spacing, because signup forms on
  your site can submit at the same moment. It still counts toward the hourly limit.
* `GET /posts` (the [posting report](https://growi.mintlify.site/api-reference/endpoint/content/posting-report.md))
  doesn't count toward either limit, so Zapier and other pollers can call it on a schedule.
* The [MCP server](https://growi.mintlify.site/essentials/connect-claude.md#limits) has its own limits, separate from these.

## Staying under the limit

* Wait at least 2 seconds between calls, and honor `Retry-After`.
* Ask for bigger pages (`per_page`) instead of more requests.
* Cache what doesn't change often, such as brands, campaigns and filters.

are set per organization.
